The Lancaster Opera House Performing Arts Center is dedicated to providing a means to encourage growth within the field of the performing arts. We proudly present an annual L. Alma McNutt Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship incentive to a deserving student to further his/her talent. Our Scholarship Committee reviews all applications and will present a monetary recognition in May, 2010.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a High School Senior student in good standing, attending a WNY school
- Currently maintains an academic overall average of at least “C”.
- Recognized background displaying talent and abilities in drama, music, dance, script writing, or other related field in the performing arts.
- Intention and commitment to use the scholarship monies to formally pursue furtherance in education to develop his or her special talent and ability.
- The scholarship is not based on monetary need for scholastic achievement, but rather onaccomplishment and desire to excel within the performing arts. Decision of recipient by the Scholarship Committee is considered final.
- Recipient is selected without regard to color, creed, religion, sex, handicap or nationalorigin.
Applicant should provide a typed/written request letter of no more than 300 words explaining why they should be awarded this scholarship. Clearly state Name, Address, Age, School, Grade and Phone Number at the top of the letter. Attach at least 2 (limit: 3) supporting original letter(s) of recommendation from your high school drama, music or English instructor or other appropriate individual who can recommend your talent and potential in the performing arts (on official stationery, signed; not a family member or relative). We urge company/corporate support – any local WNY business wishing to contribute to help perpetuate this award, with recognition; is encouraged to call the Opera House at 683-1776. Your organization/company will receive recognition on this year’s award if support is contributed before May 1st.
